Covid-19 writing

What is the first thing you are going to do when the stay-home order is lifted? Be descriptive...a minimum of five good sentences. Check my post.
I am going to go on my trip to South Carolina to see my aunt(s). I am also hopefully going with my brother and my mom and a bunch of other people to a Nerf park for his birthday which was the 6th of April. Another thing I am hoping to do is to go to one of my favorite restaurants. I might also be going to a water park. I also might be going with my girlfriend to her grandma's house.

Passion Piece

It’s strange for an 8th grader to know exactly what he or she wants to be when they grow up. I’m one of the few that know; I want to be a heavy equipment operator.

One of the reasons I have always wanted to become one is because I love operating big machines. When I was little, I played with my tractors on the floor. Or I had a sandbox and I had tractors out there too. Or out in my front yard when it snowed, I t outside and plowed the snow with my little tractors and bulldozers.

My dad works with big machines and I love going to work with him. I go as much as I can. Normally every Saturday when he works, I take the advantage of going. When I go to my great uncle’s house, he is rich and has a lot of machines, so he has projects for me to do.
The reason is because I have been dreaming since I was a kid to be a farmer or something close to that and that includes big machines. Everybody always made fun of me because I was making tractor noises with my mouth and it did get annoying. Or when I was in class, I would always start just randomly make tractor noises.

One year for Halloween I dressed up as a farmer and did it the for next year. Everybody knew who I was and what I wanted to be. Another year I wanted to put things on my lawnmower to make it look like a big tractor and haul my brother around. My dad told me that I should be a heavy equipment operator when I am older because of how observant I am and how street smart I am.
Being a heavy equipment operator is a career and is the career for me.

Week 7 Blog Post

My favorite time of year is when Thanksgiving comes around. Every year we have thanksgiving at my Nana's the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Then we have Thanksgiving with my dads side of the family the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Normally my Nana gets up around 7 and starts cooking things and normally its a lot because my moms side of the family is very large and most of them are boys. My grandma also every thanksgiving makes a white cake with chocolate frosting and lets us eat it when we have thanksgiving at her house. Normally I eat the most because that is my favorite type of cake. She also makes cinnamon rolls for breakfast.

5 or more facts about an instrument

1. It Has a Unique History

The saxophone is the only instrument in wide use today that was invented by a single individual — a musical instrument designer named Adolphe Sax, invented the name saxophone.

2. It’s the Only Brass Woodwind

From its earliest days, the saxophone was always made of brass. Although it generates sound with a single reed, it is classified as a woodwind.

3. It’s All About Bringing Balance

Because the saxophone was designed to bridge the gap between brass and woodwinds, it plays an important role in creating tonal balance. Not only does it serve to blend the divergent tones of these two groups, but it can also help support both high and low woodwinds.

4. It Has a Dynamic Personality

The dynamic range of the saxophone is the widest of all the woodwinds. The saxophone can produce a sound that is surprisingly similar to the human voice.

5. There Once Were Fourteen Different Saxophones

Adolphe Sax thought the saxophone would be capable of fitting in with a variety of ensembles. They come in a range of sizes; from the soprano in the high range to the contrabass in the low range.

Veterans Day Essay

Sometimes we forget about all the freedoms we have such as the ability to say what we want, go wherever we want, and watch anything on television. All these freedoms are due to the many veterans that are currently serving and have served in wars.  So, while we honor these brave people on Veterans’ Day, it’s important to honor them every day.
Veterans put their lives on the line so we can call our land “the home of the brave.” When we think of veterans, we think of people that saved our country, but they are world heroes. How we should think of them are people that fought for our freedom. It doesn’t matter if they are your parents, grandparents, or even strangers. You should always honor veterans.
A way that veterans are honored is through what we call the Honor Flight. The Honor Flight is an event that transports America’s veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit the memorials dedicated to honoring those who have served and sacrificed for our country. The purpose of the Honor Flight trip is to give veterans the opportunity to share this important occasion with other veterans to remember friends lost. It is to share their stories and experiences with other veterans. The veterans don’t have to pay for anything, they have sponsors and organizations that help pay for everything.
The following are quotations from participants in the Honor Flight, “This has been the best day of my life.” “After this welcome home, I felt like I won the war all by myself.” “If I live to be 100, I will never forget the welcome home.” “Seeing the memorials were nice, but the people are what made the trip.” “It was like you were a king for a day.” “The honor flight is hands down the most magical experience we have ever been a part of, and I cannot thank all the people who make it possible enough.” “This has been the best day of my life.”
For all these reasons, we should honor the veterans every day.
